Masterclass On Urban Resilience
The CDRI’s Masterclass on Urban Resilience will provide an interactive platform for participants to engage with the idea of resilient infrastructure systems in the light of unprecedented urbanization. Risk-informed urbanization, which considers future hazards while planning for large-scale and everyday infrastructure, may ensure sustainable and resilient urban futures. The Masterclass will cater to students and young professionals. The Masterclass is made of four sessions, which will be held prior to, after and during the International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI 2021). Participants enrolling in the Masterclass will attend all four sessions in March and April, and complete the task assigned. A reading list will be made available to participants prior to each session. A joint certificate will be issued to all the participants who attend all the four sessions and successfully complete the task.
During these sessions, participants will explore the challenges and opportunities of developing resilient infrastructure while understanding its synergies in achieving the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) targets, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Sessions will cover critical aspects of policy, systems approaches and integrated planning approaches to unpack issues faced by cities in the context of resilient infrastructure systems. Learners will also explore innovative tools that cities have used to mitigate risks and build resilience, including the Making Cities Resilient 2030 (MCR2030) tools for disaster resilient infrastructure. The sessions will then delve deeper into building resilience in specific sectors, such as water.
