Dr. Margreet van Marle
Researcher Climate Resilience and Wildfires, Deltares
Dr. Margreet van Marle started working at Deltares in 2017 and has worked on natural hazard risk assessments, climate resilient infrastructure and climate change. She has been involved in several (international) projects including the development of a stress test for the Netherlands where she estimated the imapct of climate change on the Dutch Road Network.
Furthermore she has been involved in projects as climate change and disaster risk expert in resilience projects in Albania, Paraguay, Indonesia, Niger and the Dominican Republic. Other projects she is involved in are related to applying remote sensing techniques using earth observation for geo-technical applications. During her PhD about deforestation, forest fires and climate change she developed several deforestation and fire emissions datasets, which will be used in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 6 (CMIP6) projections resulting in international publications in peer-reviewed journals and presented her work at several international conferences. She has professional working proficiency in Dutch, English and Spanish.
