His Excellency, Mr. Alex Ellis, British High Commissioner to India, has had a distinguished career and held several positions of eminence. Some of these include postings to Lisbon, Madrid and to EU; representing the British Government negotiation team on euro; EU Budget framework; Treaty of the EU and EU Enlargement; and working on South Africa’s transition to multi-party democracy.

Commissioner Ellis has previously served as Her Majesty’s Ambassador in Lisbon, FCO, Director of Strategy (2011 to 2013), Her Majesty’s Ambassador, Brasilia (2013 to 2017), Department for Exiting the European Union, Director General (2017 to 2019), Cabinet Office, Deputy National Security Adviser (2020 to 2021).
