Mr. Kevin Maitava is the Senior Disaster Risk Reduction Officer responsible for the Eastern Division of Fiji (i.e., maritime region). Mr. Maitava joined the National Disaster Management Office in October 2017. Prior to this, he worked for the University of South Pacific and the Fiji Development Bank.

Mr. Maitava holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Environmental studies from the University of the South and a Master of Science Degree in Climate Change also from the University of the South Pacific. Mr. Maitava’s professional interests include the building resilience of Fiji’s populace to climatic, environmental, and natural hazards. Mr. Maitava believes that building resilience will take the consolidated effort of all stakeholders and the forging of genuine partnerships.
