Dr Emma Ferranti

Dr Emma Ferranti is an Associate Professor at the University of Birmingham undertaking interdisciplinary research at the intersection of infrastructure, the built environment and green infrastructure. Her EPSRC Fellowship examines how Nature Based Solutions can deliver infrastructure resilience to extreme weather and climate change. She is a member of the Infrastructure Operators Adaptation Forum (IOAF), that brings together government, senior professionals and the Climate Change Committee to share best practice on weather and climate risk to UK infrastructure. Emma was an invited author of the Infrastructure Chapter (interdependencies section) of the 2021 Independent Assessment of UK Climate Risk. She is also an advocate for urban greening and co-facilitates the Trees and Design Action Group (TDAG), a network and charity which brings together individuals and organisations from wide ranging disciplines to improve knowledge and good practice for the benefit of urban trees.
